The original 'Pink Gin' was a 19th Century cocktail made with Plymouth Gin and Angostura Bitters. The dark red of the bitters gave the clear gin a bright pink tinge which made the drink stand out. Today a pink gin covers any blush-coloured gin, including liqueurs and gins given their colour through botanicals.
Typical pink gin botanicals include raspberry, gooseberry, cherry blossom, rhubarb, and grapefruit. The fruits add a sweet extra to the traditional juniper gin taste making pink gins perfect for those trying gins for the first time, or who just prefer their drinks less bitter.
Why not try mixing up a pink gin cocktail like a Aperol Spritz? Take 50ml of premium pink gin, add 50ml of lemonade, and 25ml of Prosecco and serve your guests a fresh, fruity, attractive drink.
