One of Champagne’s oldest houses Lanson originally founded by Francoise Delamotte and his wife in 1760, the house was one of the first to exist. In 1798 Delamotte’s son would take over the house after being made a knight of the Order of Malta he would adopt the Maltese cross as the house emblem and the icon for the company.
When family friend Jean-Baptiste Lanson took over the company the new name would bring with it a passion for innovation amongst tradition. Knowing there was a growing market outside of France for Champagne Lanson developed a strong market in Great Britain.
Innovation continued and in 1937 Lanson promoted sales of non-vintage Champagne, Lanson Black Label was born, it was also around this time that Lanson became one of the first houses to produce Rose Champagne.
